Skills
View your manager's skill assessments, development areas, strengths, and progress history.
Skills is the rep-facing view for skill assessments. It shows the ratings, manager notes, recommendations, and rating history your manager has recorded for you. Open it from Skills in the sidebar.
What You See
The top of the page shows three summary cards:
- Average Rating — your current average skill rating on a 1-5 scale
- Skills Assessed — how many skills have ratings out of the full skill framework
- Last Assessment — the most recent assessment date across your rated skills
Below the summary, assessed skills are grouped into:
- Development Areas — skills rated below 5/5, sorted from lowest rating upward so the largest growth opportunities appear first
- Areas of Strength — skills rated 5/5
Skills that have not been assessed yet are not shown in either list.
Reading a Skill Card
Each skill card can include:
- The skill name and description
- The current rating, shown as a badge and a progress bar
- The rating label: Beginner, Developing, Competent, Advanced, or Expert
- The previous rating, if one exists, with the movement to the current rating
- The last assessed date
- Manager notes, when your manager entered notes
- Improvement recommendations from the skill catalog for skills below 5/5
For skills rated 5/5, the card shows a strength message instead of improvement recommendations.
Viewing Skill Details
Click any skill card to open its detail drawer. The drawer repeats the current assessment details and adds a history panel for that skill.
The history panel can show:
- A small trend line when there is more than one rating point
- Prior rating changes with the date of each change
- Notes attached to historical rating changes, when available
If there is no history for the selected skill, the drawer shows that no history is available.
Empty and Error States
If your user account is not linked to a team member record, Skills shows a message asking you to contact your manager.
If your manager has not completed any skill assessments yet, Skills shows No Skills Assessed and explains that your manager has not completed your skill assessment.
If skill data cannot load, Skills shows an error message instead of the skill lists.
Where Ratings Come From
Skills is read-only for reps. Ratings, notes, assigned skills, recommendations, and history come from the skill assessment data your manager maintains elsewhere in SMVue.
